It’s the end of the world! The endless sea reminds me of the famous dialogue from the Hitchcock movie ‘ The Birds’ and Bodega Bay the place where the movie was filmed. When I see the endless sea the dialogue gets justified. Watching Hitchcock movies with my family was scary and exciting. But watching ‘The Birds’ as a child surely left me wondering and scared of any bird for the longest time . So one fine summer day we decided to visit it. It took us a couple of hours from Sacramento to get there and the ride was pretty with vineyards since it goes through Sonoma and Marin counties.

Driving through the town we noticed there were no malls, superstores or fast food chains but a lot of mom and pop stores that are filled with little treasures . We decided to stop at visitor center and I totally recommend to stop there since it has the theme of the Birds movie. At the visitor center, the lady told us about museums, locations where movies were shot and beaches. She also recommended few eating places.

The weather was pretty warm that summer day but I do recommend to carry a light jacket just in case it gets windy in the evening . We lucked out that day as there was no fog so we were able to stop and enjoy the seashores. There are multiple beaches where you can park the car and walk on the golden sands. I totally recommend visiting the . If the season is right you can enjoy whale watching at Bodega Head . If you are just walking do visit the Mammoth rocks for geological formations. Apart from these there are multiple beaches that you can visit. We also visited the ‘The Birds’ movie locations and it was fun and definitely worth a visit.

My and my family are foodies so how can I not get down to it. You will not find fast food chains here but some good local businesses which you can support. We were hungry and s Spud Point Crab Company had great reviews. I totally recommend visiting this place if you love Clam chowder and their crab sandwiches were too good. They have good sourdough loaf which I picked up for the next day lunch. I might just go back for that sometime soon. We decided to have a to-go lunch and had a picnic at one of the beaches.

Couple of places close by from Bodega Bay are Fort Ross and Point Reyes. So if you plan a overnight stay at Bodega you can cover these locations for the next day. I think this place can be a luxury backpackers paradise as it is peaceful and filled with nature.
